9/10-    Church Picnic/ELCA Serve Day:  Our Church picnic will follow ELCA Serve Day.  We ask that people bring gloves, and garbage bags for our clean up of Shoshone Park after worship.  The picnic should begin around 12:30 back at church, and we for that please bring sides and desserts.  A sign up for that is on the bulletin board in the Narthex.  There will be activities and games planned, but please feel free to bring lawn games and chairs/blankets to sit and relax on during the afternoon.  We hope to kick fall off with generous and glad hearts as we share this meal together! If you would like the T-shirt that we and thousands of other Lutherans will be wearing that day please see the sign up sheet in the back of the sanctuary. A Donation of $10 is requested but not required.

9/10-    Sunday School teachers will be installed.

9/17-    Sunday School classes start: Please send any extra supplies you have lying around  (crayons, construction paper, scissors, glue sticks, etc.). Thanks!

9/17-    Confirmation classes start (after worship)

9/17-    Sunday Education Class:  9am Stowell Lounge. All are welcome to join Pastor Jeremiah each Sunday morning to explore questions of faith, scripture, and learn from one another. We will pray, have group discussions, and watch videos of some of the best and brightest thinkers in the church today. Sept 17 is the first class: - "God-Faith is a Quest" Brian Mclaren"Sometimes, when I hear people speak about God, I feel like an atheist. The God they speak of I don't believe in: A God who loves Christians but hates Muslims; or a God who pours luxuries on the rich but consigns the poor to poverty; or a God who cares about human souls but doesn't care about conserving and protecting our beautiful, fragile planet. So if you ask me, "Is God real?" I first have to ask, "Which God are we talking about? And what do you mean by God?"

9/17-    Brewed Theology- Starting September 17th Pastor Jeremiah along with Pastor Emily from the Lutheran Parish of the Tondawandas will be leading a monthly faith discussion at the Wellington Pub on Hertel Ave. Intentional time around a planned topic will run from 7 to 8 and conclude with a toast. Folks are welcome to arrive early or stay late if they so wish. This event is for young adults (20's-30's) please speak to Pastor Jeremiah for more details.

10/22-  New Members Informational Gathering
We will gather for a luncheon after church on October 22nd with Pastor Jeremiah. This gives folks interested in joining the Parkside community a chance to ask questions, meet one another, and share a little about themselves. Everyone will be invited then to officially join during the service on October 28th. Following the service on the 28th we will have a cake and punch reception in Atonement hall.

Coffee Hour/First Sunday Feasts:Our First Sunday Feasts will begin in October and will continue to be sponsored by different groups within the church.  But, as always, everyone is welcome to bring something!  Coffee Hours will continue to be less formal for the other Sundays of the month; we appreciate greatly the help everyone in the congregation has put forth this summer and continue to encourage everyone to chip in!

November 11th: (tentative) Reader's Theatre production of "Luther". (see details below)

Seeking Communion Assistants and/or Lay Readers
Starting September 17th we will be using four chalices and communing both sides of the aisle at the same time. This means each Sunday we need two additional folks willing to hold chalices. All that is asked is that on your assigned Sunday you walk up to the Altar during the singing of "Lamb of God." You then will receive communion with the Acoltyes and Congrational Deacon. Together the group will walk to the head of the aisle. As folks intinct (dip) the wafer into the wine or grape juice you are asked to say, "Blood of Christ shed for you." After everyone has communed you will return chalices to the Altar. You do not need to robe and can sit anywhere in the sanctuary for the service. For Lay Reader, you will come up after the children's sermon and read 2 passages from the bible that will be emailed to you several days before the Sunday you are assigned to read. If interested in either one or both positions please email Lisa at Parksidelutheran@gmail.com

What's Your Story?

"What's your story?" Pastor Jeremiah would like to meet with you and hear your story! He is meeting folks at church, in their homes, or out in the community. He is meeting with current/former members, building partners, folks who live/work in Buffalo, and even folks who have never heard of Parkside Lutheran. He would love to meet with you!
