What does this congregation care about?

Our community life is anchored in worship, strengthened by educational and fellowship activities, and expressed through ministries of love within and beyond the congregation. The good news about Jesus is at the center of who we are and what we do. We are striving each day to be a mission-oriented church, looking outside our walls to serve the community and world around us.

What kind of Lutheran church is this?

Parkside Lutheran Church is a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the largest Lutheran Church body in the United States.

 I am ________ will I be welcomed?

Yes. All are welcome at Parkside Lutheran Church. We are progressive and mission-minded congregation that strongly believe God’s grace extends to all people. We are not here to condemn or judge you, rather, we exist to further establish God’s Kingdom in the world through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is worship like?

Our worship is structured according to the church’s ancient pattern of inviting God’s people to gather to hear God’s Word, to share God’s meal of Holy Communion and to be sent out into the world to share the good news of God’s love with others. We utilize the Evangelical Lutheran Worship Hymnal and practice a liturgical style.

Our volunteer choir assists in leading the congregation at worship, and the hymns and liturgy are accompanied by our historic Skinner Organ. While our worship could be classified as “traditional”, generally speaking, we make an effort to not take ourselves too seriously. The preaching at Parkside is creative, and at times interactive. And of course, we are not shy about laughing together during worship — we believe that laughter is one of the most beautiful ways to worship God.

Can I take communion during worship?

All are welcome to share in the sacrament of Holy Communion. This invitation comes not from Parkside, or the Pastor, but from Jesus Christ himself. As Lutheran Christians we believe that Jesus Christ is truly present in, with, and under the elements.
